installation & identity

As part of our portfolio class, it is required for all graduating Art Center students to construct a show featuring their best work. This is the class where we decide upon our identity, making our transition from students to professionals. We were assigned to create our logo mark, which encompassed the design of our business cards, résumés, cover letters, and the optional envelope.

Each student in the graphic design department is given an 8x8' wall and an optional 6' long table. I wanted my space to feel like a library and effectively showcase my work. I gathered as many librarian supplies I could find: a library cart, a card catalog box (which I serendiptously found months prior to the conception of my identity system), storage boxes which housed my résumés, and finally, personalized golf pencils that advertise my website. The suspended shelves and sign were handcrafted for the show.

Many thanks to the Pasadena Central Library for offering their support and inspiration and the Art Center Library for lending their bookcart. And of course, I am beyond thankful for all of my friends and family who went out of their way to help make this happen. ♥
